BONEYARD PUNCH LIST

SEAN MCCOURT – Showrunner on Barnwood Builders

OK, I’m going to go ahead and say it. This Sunday’s episode of Barnwood builders might just be my favorite. (I know, I know, you’re supposed to love all your kids the same. But every now and then one of your kids wins a spelling bee and you think, “Hmm, maybe that one.”) The episode that airs this Sunday, April 8 at 9 pm is called BONEYARD PUNCH LIST. I love it because it has so many different elements in one episode. There’s a cabin build, some messy takedown stuff, a beautiful barn, a not-so-beautiful barn, and a famous football player (more on that in a minute.)

In this Episode, the guys are working on the Boneyard while Mark is on the road drumming up business. On the yard they’re rebuilding the Hamlin Cabin, which they took down in season 5. That was another one of my favorite episodes, so it’s fun to see it get restored. And look out, Tim Rose is ridiculously funny in this episode.

Meanwhile, Mark explores the most impressive barn he’s ever seen, and lets us in on some of the aspects of his business that we rarely get to learn. Later, he even gets to hang out with Jeff Hostetler. Yeah, THAT Jeff Hostetler. It seems like after a few super bowl wins, Hoss got into restoring an antique house. Lucky us!

I’ve been fortunate enough to work on Barnwood Builders for 6 seasons, and every show has been unique. Most series develop a format and stick to it. But so far we have produced more than 75 episodes and we still haven’t found a formula. That’s a good thing. We love this show because it is never the same twice. Sometimes they build things. Sometimes they take things down. Sometimes they explore caves. Sometimes they play mudball. But no matter what, these guys always make me laugh.
