Season Premiere this Sunday!

The Barnwood Builders have worked on huge pioneer barns before. But this Sunday, when season 6 premieres, audiences will watch Mark and the guys take down the largest log home they’ve ever found.

When Mark first saw the massive farmhouse in New Springfield, Ohio, he knew it was a rare find. Most old cabins are small with simple construction, a reflection of the early pioneers’ modest means. By comparison, this two-story, 26-by-32-foot farmhouse is enormous. And the design is a marvel of nineteenth-century engineering. The pioneers who built it used extra-large, hand-hewn summer beams to support the joists on the first and second floors—something Mark and the crew have never seen before in a log cabin. The crew also discovers that the logs are pegged together in an unusual way, a detail that reveals the unparalleled craftsmanship that went into building this home.

But the farmhouse’s size isn’t the only thing that sets it apart. Inside the home, the guys find artifacts that give them a sense of how earlier generations lived and worked the land. And they meet one of the home’s owners, Kimberly Landsberger, who shares childhood stories about this iconic Ohio family farm. She also jumps in to help with the take down—and even takes a swing with the beetle!
For Kimberly, her memories of this farmhouse are what’s most important. And she takes comfort knowing that her family’s history will live on when these old logs get a new life as a modern home. For the Barnwood Builders, this job combines everything they love: true pioneer craftsmanship, family history, and good old-fashioned hard work. It’s the perfect way to kick off a brand new season of Barnwood Builders!
